“Euro Folk – Nishavski Horovod 2005” International Folklore Festival

“Euro Folk – Nishavski Horovod 2005" International Folklore Festival will be held within the scope of "Euro Folk 2005" Musical Feasts - The world is television, which take place in different European cities and countries from 3 May till 22 September 2005.

Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2005” comprise of twelve musical festivals and a Science-practical conference “Traditional folk arts and the contemporary information technologies”. Main event of the Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2005” is Festival №1 in Europe for the traditional folk arts – Stara Planina Fest “Balkan Folk”. Every year in the Festival participate 15000 musicians, singers and dancers. Other typical festival of the Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2005” is “Euro Folk – Russian Island 2005” International Festival for Traditional Folk Arts – held in Moscow Region, Russia. There under preferential conditions take part the awarded with the Grand prix and First Awards from the other musical festivals “Euro Folk”. From the International festivals, that are held untill now, 6 groups – awarded with the “Grand prix” and 10 groups awarded with the “First Awards” are invited to participate in the International Festival for Traditional Folk Arts “Euro Folk – Russian Island” in Moscow Region.

Typical feature of Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2005” is, that all performances are recorded with professional audio and television equipment and the best of them will be broadcasted in Europe. Natural continuation of this activity is International Festival for TV and Internet Musical Products “Euro Folk”. In this festival except television and Internet musical products of “Euro Folk” and “Balkan Folk” take part also specialists and products from other European and world televisions. All these activities realize the main purpose of Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2005” – The world is television to make the traditional folk arts popular through the media.

Preliminary Program

The fest program includes competitions in the following categories:

  • folk songs;
  • folk dances;
  • folk ensembles;
  • folk customs;

The fest program will consist of three sessions open to the public:
  1. preliminary round;
  2. second round;
  3. final /third/ round.

The jury announces, after each round, the results and the groups, which pass into the next round.
All participants, who proceed to the second round, become laureats of the fest.
The jury will have the right to ask for partial performance and to interrupt it, if it exceeds the prescribed time limits. Participants, however, must be prepared, if requested, to perform the program in its entirety.

Regulations

The "Euro Folk – Nishavski Horovod 2005" International Folklore Festival is held within five performing days and evening concerts. Main task of the organizers is to ensure the artistic teams an access to the stage, to gather them in a contest program aimed at defining the best ones and to popularize the award winners of the fest by broadcasting their art in the European TV channels.

"Euro Folk – Nishavski Horovod 2005" International Folklore Festival is organized by Euro Folk Academy, Balkan Folk Academy and other organizations within the scope of "Euro Folk 2005" Musical Feasts - The world is television, from 9 till 12.06.2005.

Host of the festival is the city Dimitrovgrad, Serbia and Montenegro.

 

Regulations for participation in the contest

To enter the participants must be accredited, which is realized under the following conditions:
Those who wish to take part in the festival fill-in and sign application forms, by which they formally agree with the conditions laid by these Regulations.

The application forms should be sent not later than 31.03.2005.
Accreditation fee for a group is 150 EURO. It must be paid not later than 30.04.2005 together with the 10% advanced payment for lodging or board and lodging.

It is desirable that the participants should send at the above-mentioned address of Euro Folk Academy the latest album of the artist /band/ or demo record of not less than two songs. Further to this it is recommended that the application form should be accompanied with annotation and promo-materials such as photos. All sent materials are not subject of return.

In case the requests for participation exceed the necessary entries for the contest day, the jury makes a preliminary selection based on the given records and informs in written form all candidates for which day they qualify.

Preliminary round

In the preliminary round the participants perform their program for not more than thirty minutes.
Foreign groups go on in the second round by right.

 

Second round

During this round studio audio recordings and filming of professional video clips of the participants' program will be done free of charge of those performances awarded by the jury or against payment.

The program must not exceed 40 minutes.

The made recordings will be broadcasted by 50 Bulgarian cable televisions and by satellite televisions with European holding.

 

Final /third/ round

Participation in evening concerts with program from 10 to 20 minutes long.

During their participation in the fest, the group could be invited by the organizers to take part in the common events - official opening, official closing, parade, cocktail or others.

 

Awards

Grand-Prix: "Euro Folk – Nishavski Horovod 2005" and a diploma. The award is decided by the jury in accordance with the procedures, set by the members before the opening of the festival and announced to the entrants on the opening day.

The jury awards the best performances with a free of charge shooting and producing of a video clip.
All award winners /participants in the second round/ are granted with an Honorary sign and deeds as laureates of "Euro Folk – Nishavski Horovod 2005". The awards are granted on ceremonies during "Euro Folk 2005" Musical Feasts - The world is television.

The award winners of "Euro Folk – Nishavski Horovod 2005" International Folklore Festival have right to participate by preferential conditions in “Euro Folk – Russian Island”.

All award winners get free of charge a copy of the TV product, which consists their performances, and has been broadcasted in Bulgaria or in Europe.

Participants can order against payment on compact disc, videocassette or DVD the full recordings of their performances and video clips. These products will be with the right of broadcasting in the respective country.
The Music program is live. The order of sound-check and performances for each day is decided by the organizers.
Participants do not get paid for their performance.

The deadline for sending the application forms is 1 June 2005.

The jury is international and consists of 3 persons.

Unambiguous text: The artists or presenting organizations, if approved by the jury to participate in the fest, step back to the organizers the right to be recorded on video and audio, arranged in a program, presenting the fest and broadcasted by a TV channel or some other way, for which a contractual agreement will be signed.

 

Accreditations

Each music company or independent producer can send representatives on the fest, in which case the sender covers the expenses for that.

The accreditation fee is 150 EURO.

The registration fee ensures you information catalogues and access to the event to which you have been accredited as well as to all the other festivals, seminars, cocktails and music concerts. You are also entitled to participate in the Opening Ceremony and the Official Closing of "Euro Folk 2005"Musical Feasts - The world is television.

If the deadline for sending the application forms (31.03.2005) is exceeded the applications are accepted but the accreditation fee (the participation fee) is increased by 30%.

 

General conditions

A 10% advance payment of the total sum for lodging or board and lodging (calculated on the chosen by the group prices and the number of days to stay) should be deposited on account No 80023/1402240115 /in EURO/ at UNITED BULGARIAN BANK - branch Veliko Tarnovo, S.W.I.F.T. UBBSBGSF by 30.04.2005 to Euro Folk Academy Ltd. For example, for a group of twenty-five people who would stay at a two-star hotel, boarding and lodging for five days the sum comes out to: 25 x 5 x 26 = 3250 EURO. The deposit is 3250 x 0.1 = 325 EURO + 150 EURO (participation fee) = 475 EURO. This sum should be deposited on the appointed account. The discounts will be substracted by the final payment that will be made at the arrival day.

The prices for lodging, which include the festival service are as follows:

  • two star hotel
    • boarding and lodging - 26 EURO
    • lodging and breakfast - 18 EURO
  • one star hotel
    • boarding and lodging - 21 EURO
    • lodging and breakfast - 15 EURO


for group of more than 10 people - 5% discount
for group of more than 20 people - 10% discount
for children up to 12 years old - 20% discount.

The sender covers all bank taxes.

All filled in and signed applications will mean acceptance of the terms laid by the present regulations.

The registration of the participants on their arrival in Veliko Tarnovo will be held at the Municipality of Dimitrovgrad, Serbia and Montenegro.
