GRAND PRIX "Golden Orpheus", gold medal and a diploma of ABSOLUTE BALKAN CHAMPION OF FOLKLORE for 2012

The Winner of Grand Prix "Golden Orpheus" takes also a money prize of 1000 Euro.

First award "Golden Orpheus" in the 14 categories and a diploma of BALKAN CHAMPION OF FOLKLORE for the relevant category. The Champions receive gold medals. For the second and third place there are silver and bronze medals.
All participants receive diplomas of laureates, diplomas and prizes.
The distinguished by the jury and the producers of Euro Folk Academy artists and artistic leaders are awarded diplomas for Maestro or Maestro Academic through the Ministry of Culture of the relevant country.

Basic Information

The Open Balkan Championship of Folklore "Euro Folk 2012” is held within the scope of Musical Fests “Euro Folk 2012” – The World is television. Musical Feasts are held in different European cities and countries during the whole year 2012.

Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2012” comprise forthy five (45) musical festivals and are held under the aegis of the European Association of Folklore Festivals - ЕАFF. Main event of Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2012” is No 1 Festival in Europe for the traditional folklore arts – Stara Planina Fest “Balkan Folk” in Bulgaria. Every year from 9 000 to 15 000 musicians, singers and dancers take part in it.

Typical feature of Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2012” is that all of the performances are recorded with professional audio and television technics and the best of them are repeatedly broadcasted by more than 50 cable televisions in Bulgaria, by the satelite televisions "New Bulgarian Television", "Travel TV", "Bulgaria TV " and “Heros TV”, as well as by the World Wide Internet televisions "Euro Folk" at tv.eurofolk.com and "Rodina TV" at www.tvrodina.com. All this activities realize the main purpose of the European Association of Folklore Festivals - ЕАFF - to promote the traditional folk arts through the enormous possibilities of mass media.

The concerts of the Balkan Championship of Folklore “Jiva voda - Euro Folk 2012” are broadcasted live on the World Internet Television „EurofolkTV”.

HISARYA

Hisar / Hisarya (the Augusta, Diocletianopolis, Seuthopolis, Aleksiopolis, Toplitsa) has a rich thousand-year history. The favorable climate and mineral waters have attracted people in these places of ancient times. Here is a prehistoric settlement existed even before the V-IV century BC. The late Thracian settlement near the mineral springs became part of the Odryssae state. Some spa centers were built medical-religious sanctuaries (nympheum). From this period dates the big Thracian cult facilities near Starosel.

After the conquest of the province of Thrace by the Romans in 46, around mineral springs emerged a big Roman city. In 293 the Emperor Diocletian gave him the status of the city and since its beginning built massive retaining walls and constructions of new urban solutions. In its preservation and originality, the defense system and the architecture of the Roman town Diocletianopolis ranks among the top in Europe. In many places the fortress wall reaches a height of 11 meters and the southern fortress gate stands 13 meters. Archaeological studies state that the fortress was reinforced by 44 towers. In the ancient city there were four major gates.

Preliminary Program

The festival program includes competitions in the following categories:

• folk songs;
• folk dances;
• folk ensembles;
• choirs;
• old urban songs;
• brass bands and folklore orchestras;
• popular and variety songs;
• individual performers;
• in all the categories there are classifying for young people up to 19 years

The concerts take place at the Amphitheatre in Hissar, Bulgaria.

The jury has the right to request for the performance of a part of the notified program, if it exceeds the specified time limits. Nevertheless, the participants should be ready, if necessary, to perform the program in its entirety.

During the Balkan Championship of Folklore "Jiva Voda - Euro Folk 2012” studio recordings and filming of professional video clips will be made free of charge of those performances from the participants' program, which were awarded by the jury or against payment. 

The duration of the program should not exceed 20 minutes.

The made recordings shall be broadcasted by 50 Bulgarian cable televisions, by 4 satellite televisions covering the whole Europe, as well as by the World Wide Internet Televisions “Euro Folk” at tv.eurofolk.com and “Rodina TV” at www.tvrodina.com.
During the participation of the collective in the championship the organizer could invite it to take part in general events such as Official Opening, Official Closing, defile, cocktail party and others.

Regulations

Main task of the organizers is to give the creative groups an access to the stage, to gather them in a competition program with the purpose of defining the best ones and to promote the award winners of the fest by broadcasting their art in Bulgaria and the European TV air.

The Balkan Championship of Folklore "Jiva Voda - Euro Folk 2012” has been organized  by European Association of Folklore Festivals – EAFF, Euro Folk Academy and other organizations within the scope of Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2012 – the world is television”.

Host of the Open Balkan Championship of Folklore "Jiva Voda - Euro Folk 2012” is Hisarya, Bulgaria.

Regulations for participation in Open Balkan Championship of Folklore "Jiva voda - Euro Folk 2012"

To enter the contest, the participants must be accredited, which is realized under the following conditions:

Those who wish to take part in the Festival must complete and sign application forms, in which there is an unambiguous text saying, that the notifier accepts the conditions laid by this regulation.

The collectives, who apply for participation, must have received prestigious awards from other festivals; the awards should be mentioned in the application form.

The application forms should be sent not later than April 30, 2012.

The participants pay the specified prices for participation in the Open Balkan Championship of Folklore "Euro Folk 2012”. The advance payment is 20% from the total amount for the participation of the group. It is payable up to April 30, 2012. That condition is in order to book the places in the active resort season.

The price includes overnight stay, breakfast, dinner and festival service.

20% advance payment from the total amount for participation, calculated by the price, chosen from the relevant group, must be transferred via the indicted bank account.

For example, for a group consisting of 26 people for staying in a 3 stars hotel with overnight stay, breakfast and dinner,for 3 days the amount is calculated in the following way: 25 (+1 person for free) х 75 EURO = 1875 EURO. The advance payment equals 1875 х 0,2 = 375 EURO.

This amount must be transferred via the indicated bank account. The discounts shall be rendered at the final payment.
The prices for the stay, including the necessary festival service, are as follows:

It is desirable to send by post to the address of EAFF the last released album of the participant (the group) or demo records of not less than two performances. It is desirable that the application form has an added annotation about the participant and advertising materials – photos. The sent materials are not a subject of return.
