"St. George 2009" International Festival for Orthodox Chants will be held within the scope of "Euro Folk 2009" Musical Feasts - The world is television, which is in different European cities and countries from 1 May till 21 October 2009.
Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2009” comprise fifteen musical festivals and are held under the aegis of European Association of Folklore Festivals - EAFF.
Main event of the Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2009” is Festival №1 in Europe of the traditional folk arts – Stara Planina Fest “Balkan Folk”. Every year in the Festival participate from 9 000 to 15 000 musicians, singers and dancers.
Typical feature of Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2009” is, that all performances are recorded with professional audio and television technics and the best of them will be repeatedly broadcasted by 50 cable televisions in Bulgaria, by the satelite and national cable televisions "Eurocom Bulgaria" and "Heros TV", as well as by the World Wide Internet Television "Euro Folk" at www.eurofolk.com/tv . All this activities realize the main purpose of Musical Feasts “Euro Folk 2009” – The world is television to make popular through the media the traditional folk arts.
Preliminary Program
The fest program includes competitions in the following categories:
- women’s choirs;
- men’s choirs;
- mixed choirs;
- children’s choirs.
The jury will have the right to ask for partial performance and to interrupt it, if it exceeds the prescribed time limits. Participants, however, must be prepared, if requested, to perform the composition in its entirety.
During the Festival studio audio recordings and filming of professional video clips of participants' program will be made of the ones awarded by the jury with a free shooting and making of a video clip or against payment.
The program must not exceed 30 minutes.
It is recommendable that participants should consider 3 days stay in order to make audio recordings and video clips of high quality.
The made recordings will be broadcasted by 50 Bulgarian cable televisions and by satellite televisions with European holding, as well as repeatedly on World Wide television "Euro Folk" at www.eurofolk.com/tv.
During its participation in the Fest, the group could be invited by the organizers to take part in the common events - official opening, official closing, parade, cocktail or others.
Regulations
The Festival is held within ten performing days and evening concerts. It enables church choirs to showcase their creative projects on an already acknowledged scene, on which is held Stara Planina Fest "Balkan Folk" – Festival №1 in Europe for traditional folk arts. The concert scene of "St. George 2009" International Festival for Orthodox Chants is the Cathedral church “Virgin Mary” in Veliko Tarnovo.
Main task of the organizers is to ensure the creative groups an access to the stage, to gather them in a contest program aimed at defining the best ones, as well as to popularize the award winners of the fest by broadcasting their art in the European TV channels as well as repeatedly on yhe Worl Wide Television "Euro Folk" at www.eurofolk.com/tv.
The participants in “St. George 2009” International Festival for Orthodox Chants have the right to participate with their entire program in Festival №1 in Europe of the traditional folk arts – Stara Planina Fest “Balkan Folk”.
The "St. George 2009" International Festival for Orthodox Chants is organized by Euro Folk Academy, Balkan Folk Academy, the Bishopric of Veliko Tarnovo and other organizations within the scope of "Euro Folk 2009" Musical Feasts - The world is television, from 01.05 till 12.05.2009.
Host of the festival is the former Bulgarian capital of Veliko Tarnovo.
